A lifelong Grand Prairie resident, wife, mom, small business owner and community leader whose connection to this city has shaped a lifetime of involvement and service.
Her Story
Grand Prairie isn't just where Marketta lives. It's home.
Marketta's story in Grand Prairie began long before business ownership, community boards or public service.
She grew up here. She started kindergarten here. She graduated from high school here. And some of her earliest lessons about community involvement came through the Just Say No to Drugs program at the Dalworth Recreation Center.
Today, she's raising a family, running a small business and continuing to invest her time in the same community that helped shape her.
For Marketta, being involved in Grand Prairie isn't something that began with a campaign or an appointment. It's something she's been doing for years.
Small Business Owner
A business built around families.
As the owner of a local daycare, Marketta's work has given her a particularly personal view of Grand Prairie.
Her business has served more than 700 local families, putting her alongside parents, children and working families navigating everyday life in a growing city.
Running a small business has also meant experiencing the challenges entrepreneurs face firsthand — serving customers, adapting to change and building something that can last.
That experience has helped shape how Marketta approaches community issues: listen first, understand how decisions affect real people, and never lose sight of the families and businesses behind the numbers.
Community Involvement
Service beyond the business.
Marketta's involvement in Grand Prairie extends well beyond her work. Over the years, she has found ways to serve through civic organizations, local leadership programs and community outreach.
Served as a board member supporting children and families.
Participated in the city's community leadership program.
Active involvement through service and community connection.
Twice honored to serve as a Parade Marshal in Grand Prairie.
Marketta has also supported community outreach efforts providing food, school supplies and other essential resources to families. Her business has received recognition from the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce.
Those experiences have brought her into conversations with parents, educators, business owners, neighborhood leaders and residents from across the community.
More Than Public Service

Public involvement is only one part of Marketta's life.
She's a wife and mom first, and many of the issues facing Grand Prairie aren't abstract policy questions to her.
They're the same questions families across the city think about every day: Are our neighborhoods safe? Are we planning responsibly for growth? Can local businesses succeed? Will our children inherit a community that's even stronger than the one we know today?
Those are questions Marketta considers not only as a community leader, but as someone whose own family has deep roots here.
Grand Prairie is where her story began — and where she's continuing to build it.
A New Chapter
A new opportunity to serve.
In 2026, Marketta was appointed to the Grand Prairie Planning & Zoning Commission, giving her a new opportunity to serve the city she has called home throughout her life.
The commission considers issues involving land use, development and the future physical growth of Grand Prairie — decisions that can have lasting effects on neighborhoods, businesses and residents.
Marketta approaches that responsibility the same way she has approached her other community work: by listening, doing the homework and remembering that decisions about a city's future ultimately affect the people who live there.

Marketta believes Grand Prairie's future should be approached thoughtfully — with strong neighborhoods, responsible growth, thriving businesses and opportunities for families.
She also believes residents deserve to understand what's happening in their community.
