Meet Marketta
For Marketta Nimo, Grand Prairie is more than a place on a map. It's where she built her family, grew a small business and became involved in the community around her.
Her perspective comes from everyday life — from raising a family, working with parents and children, running a business and listening to residents who care deeply about the future of their neighborhoods.
Marketta believes strong communities are built when people stay informed, participate and are willing to serve. Today, she continues that work as a member of the Grand Prairie Planning & Zoning Commission while remaining actively involved throughout the city.

Marketta has been appointed to serve on the Grand Prairie Planning & Zoning Commission, where she will participate in the public process surrounding land use, development, zoning and the continued growth of the city.
It's another opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions and serve the community that has given her family so much.
Decisions about how a city grows can shape neighborhoods, transportation, local business and quality of life for years to come. Marketta believes residents should be able to understand those decisions and stay connected to the process.
